Marseille is a city both familiar and strange, most Chinese knew it as a port for the voyage of early Chinese revolutionaries to go to Europe, as well as that famous song La Marseillaise. When I came to this city in 2001, it gave me the impression is not considered a typical French city, even not was regarded as a typical European city.

Old Port is located in the downtown of Marseille, once was occupied by Greeks, Romans, Visigoths and Franks. It was the last glimpse of the French poets as the time of leaving home. Now it has been full of fishermen with heavily accent, homeless beggars, prostitutes and tourists from all over the world; Maghreb, Jews, Chinese, all different colors were bronzed by the sun of Marseille. Then I put my camera to these wanderers and travelers, however am I not one of them?
